Good protection, a little work to get on and off...
This is a good case overall, the clickdial is exposed but there is a plastic overlay to go over the screen and it's not clear as glass, but very good.

The only problem with this type of case is that you have to take it off to insert it into many of the external speaker systems like the MM50 or Bose Sounddock. However it is easier to take off than the silicone case I had on my 20GB ipod that opened from the bottom.

I tend to drop my iPod at least once every 3 months or so, so this is a required accessory for me. A little expensive though for a peice of rubber and plastic...

Good Buy But Some Problems
I purchased the toughskin about 3 months ago and it helped keep my ipod in basically A+ shape. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is even though it is durable, not everything on it is built to last. The belt clip is cheaply made and through wear and tear eventually begins to crack. Also you may wanna buy something to protect the toughskin protective screen because eventually it gets very scratched and begins to faze the look of the picture. Another problem which is kind of minor is the 30 gb piece insertion leaves a mark after long term use. Overall for whats on the market today this is still the best buy to keep ur ipod for lasting them horrible falls and bumps.

Good enough. For a while.
Background: I have owned my 30 Gigabyte iPod and Speck Toughskin case for almost six months now. I have primarily used my iPod while traveling through Europe last fall (2006). Now I generally carry my iPod with me to school and work. During this time I have generally had the Toughskin on my iPod unless I wish to use it in my car with the adapter I also purchased.

Use: Normally I carry my iPod in my back pack while in school or in my coat pocket with the case on the iPod. I did use the belt clip while traveling in the airport, however with bulky clothing I have found it easier to just place in a large pocket. Granted with the Toughskin my iPod will not fit into any jean/khaki pant pocket. It will fit into a cargo style pocket though.

1. The case is large, but seems quite protective.
2. The screen, though clear at first, has started to become scratched and hazy over the past couple of months.
3. The belt clip is sturdy and have never felt as though my iPod would all off. HOWEVER, the push tab to open the clip has broken off. This tab cracked about a month into use of the Toughskin and I knew it was only a matter of time before it broke. Now, after six months of use that time has come.
4. The 30 Gig insert has left marks on the back of my iPod.
5. I have noticed some discoloration of the Toughskin. I suppose this is to be expected.
6. The bulkiness of it can sometimes make it hard to select songs.

Conclusion: Great protection but a bit bulky and hard to use sometimes.

Tough, Clear, Protective
Works very well on my older iPod Video, but the curves on my new iPod Classic are a problem - the material is a bit thick and will not lay down over the curved surfaces.

This is a very clear and effective cover screen for the front, back and scroll wheel of your ipod. It will probably work best in conjuction with another skin or clip on belt carrier. I would definitely buy it again.

Good, but back shield is too large.
It is a good shield so far, but the back cover is too large and hangs off the rounded edges of my 5 gen. 30 gigabyte iPod. But the front cover fits nicely. I'm glad I bought this product though, even if the back doesn't fit all too well.

perfection!!!
This case is amazing. I switch off between this and another case. This one is great because it doesn't have the unneeded screen protector and it's not too large and especially not pricy. It can be large if u wear semi tight pants but if u have baggy pants or a bag or purse it's perfect. Nothing to complain about.

Functional Good design, but WIFI strength is diminished
Nicely designed and holds the Ipod touch with a precise fit. However, when inserted the Ipod Touch WIFI signal is greatly diminished and the unit needs to be taken out to get a clear signal. Wish the case had be designed as an "antenna augmentation" device rather than just a sleeve

Fits like a glove
I liked everything about this case but the ear bud/wire storage, which was the main reason I bought the case. Regular ear buds are too large for me, and the case would not store my Koss ear buds - they fell out. I also had trouble getting the cord to store in the provided area. But I loved the fit and feel of the case - very non-slip, which is essential for my arthritic hands.

great for earbuds but not much else
The click wheel is unusable with this cover. I cut that portion out with a knife because I like the convenience of the earbud organizer and now it is adequate.

scratch resistant?
the click wheel isnt accessible with the silicone covering it so i cut it out with a knife. another thing that annoyed me was the ear bud holder. although the inside of the case is silicone, the outline of the earbud holder is seen on the mirror back of the ipod. their is a stencil of it etched on to the back. it doesnt come off no matter how hard i scrub. so the case makes its own scratches.

This is a great overall case to protect your player. The wire management feature adds only moderate thickness to it, certainly less than wire management areas on similar cases I've bought owned. Having wire management integrated with your case is a big advantage. And if you use the standard iPod headphones, or ones with the same form factor, this is probably one of the best cases for you. Still, some will opt to get separate wire winders for their phones and different cases, and here's why.

These days most people are replacing their included headphones. Some iPod reviewers state with no hesitation, "just pay $300 to get decent headphones once you buy your iPod." I personally like Apple's included headphones and think they should be sufficient for basic users. The cord management area is designed for headphones shaped like Apple's. 90% of all other headphones simply won't fit into the included phone holes.

The other major issue with this case is dock compatibility. Some have pointed out the case may prevent easy use with car mounts. But I was more surprised that the thick bottom corners prevented easy loading in my top down iPod dock even though the area around the port is open. Most of my silicon cases for other iPods have allowed me to use open iPod docks with the cases on, which is a huge timesaver. This design could have used just a little more tinkering. Even thick silicon cases can be made to work easily with top down (open) iPod docks.

The case does have some design pluses. The thick corners are nice, and the design does include a good "home button" area and a hole for the light sensor. The hole on the cord management area is designed to accept a clip for a lanyard so you can carry the case around your neck. This hole is not meant for your headphone cord. :-)

The comparison that has to be made is with the Speck Toughskin, which doesn't include the wire management but does have thicker silicon and a less slippery grip. It has much thicker edging too and provides slightly better protection if that is your primary concern. If you can do without wire management, you probably want to check out the Speck. DLO's case does beat Specks on cost though at about half the price.

If you need a case till you test drive what else is out there, this is a great value and should definitely be on your list.

Perfect Case and Cover for The iPod Touch
The jamb jacket fits the iPod Touch like a glove. As the other reviewer said the raised corners offer a lot of protection if the iPod is dropped on a corner. I can't say how the ear buds fit in the holder on the rear because I use the Bose ear buds and have put away the ones form Apple.

When trying to put on the surface shield, I noticed that there were specks of dust between the shield and glass screen that was creating air bubbles. I used a piece of Scotch tape and removed the dust from the "sticky" side of the surface shield. After removing the dust the shield went on fine with no bubbles. The touch screen works great with the shield.

Great protection without unncessary bulk
I just picked this up last night. The case itself consists of rubber, or some rubber like material. As you can see from the photos, the corners are doubly protected with added padding. From a design point, this makes perfect sense. Heaven forbid, if you were to ever drop your iTouch, it would most likely land on a corner, so with the added padding, it just might survive such a fall in tact. The sides of the case are texturized with small, raised bumps, allowing you to comfortably grip your iTouch. I love the ear bud management on the back. Some may not like using ear buds, but for those that do, this is a perfect solution to carrying your ear buds with your iTouch. No longer do you have to tote them around separetly. They're all together in one neat package. Great idea!

Oh, and one last thing...it comes with a plastic film to protect your screen!

Practically unusable
Thank Buddha it wasn't expensive. It protects only the front side of your shuffle and only half of that! The play button, and the easy-to-stain white ring surrounding it, are uncovered and unprotected. I had hoped to be able to wrap slack cord around the sides while listening and to wrap the entire cord around for carrying in my pocket, bag or backpack when not listening. You can indeed wind your headphone cord around the flanges at the sides but there is nowhere to secure the earbuds so the cord just comes unwound immediately. After throwing this in the garbage (not recyclable either), I bought a silicon case and a silicon figure-8-shaped keeper for my earbuds (I wrap the cord around the keeper).

What's the point?
I bought this little item to cover the face of my ipod shuffle. But after having it for a long while i refuse to see the point i bought it in the first place. Well i am sure if i never had it the ipod would have had some scratches by now, but that just don't seem to be enough of a point to me. It actually hides the true beauty of the ipod (which the Apple engineers spent so much time perfecting).

If you want it you can buy it but i refuse to see the point.

This was one of the best buys I've made on Amazon - another girl at work has one without the protection that mine has with this cover and bumped hers against a shelf and actually cracked the metal on her ipod - mine goes thru alot but the cover has protected it from any sign of abuse!!! :)

I agree with the other reviewer who emphasized the importance of following the instructions. I must also add that patience and attention to detail are key. For the uninitiated or those who hate reading instructions, there are videos on the net that show the proper procedure. Here's my experience:

I found that the device should be cleaned very well with a 50/50 water/alcohol mixture and a microfiber (lens cleaning) cloth. If you use a paper towel or your shirt, you're more likely to leave dust and lint on the device. After it's been cleaned and all the finger grease, etc. has been removed, the activation spray should be applied generously to the "sticky" side of the film and your fingers. Once set into place, just squegee all the liquid away and let it dry overnight. Ideally, one should apply the Invisibleshield to a new Nano so there won't be any scratches on the mirrored back - unfortunately mine was used for quite some time and already had some fine scratches...nevertheless, it is now well-protected.

I've used Invisible Shield products on other devices with great success and this one for the Nano is no exception: it does not affect any functions, makes the Nano "nonslip" and scratch-free, is removable, and has a lifetime guarantee to boot. What's not to like?

BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT!!!
DO NOT buy the InvisibleSHIELD for ANY reason for any of your devices/phones! The spray you use to install this product got under the touchscreen on my HTC Touch Pro and destroyed it! When I contacted ZAGG (the makers of this product) about this issue, they said their warranty only covers the InvisibleSHIELD itself and refused to pay to have my phone repaired or replaced!

Their "Customer Service" is also some of the worst I have ever seen! I had to repeatedly call and email them to get an answer out of them. It took me well over a month to finally get a hold of someone just so they could tell me they would not replace my phone :(

I would steer clear of this product and get something that won't potentially destroy your phone - stay as far away from the ZAGG company (and all of their products) as possible!

Best On The Market!
I've had my shield on my 3rd gen Nano for over a year and a half now, still scratch-free! The corners started to peel (I use it somewhat roughly) but I was able to clean them and re-apply the shield with some superglue. Before trying to install the item yourself, check your local mall for a retailer who knows how to install it (I was fortunate enough not to do it myself). You also might try a window tinging shop, it's the same concept. Best of luck!

Needs some work.
This product fits very well on the ipod classic 80GB, looks good too. There is just one problem, though it protects the wheel of the ipod, there is nothing to protect the screen. I've had to buy a seperate screen protector to prevent scratches.

cord management feature very nice
This is a lightweight and generally welldesigned cover for the ipod classic. The rubberized cover is shock resistant and access to the wheel is not hindered by the cover. The cord management system is one of the best features as my old covers left the cords dangling and tangled in my purse. You simply have small indentation to insert the plug and then wind the cord around a raised track and insert the earbods in their spot. The only disadvantage to this one is no easy use clip or belt connector. Even so, after seeing this one on my daughter's ipod, I'm replacing my current cover with one.

Nice, but troublesome
On January 5th, I purchased a DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80 GB iPod classic. As the title suggests, this product is designed specifically for the 80 GB iPod Classic, and therefore may not work as expected for other iPods.

The quick review: Overall, this case offers a good deal of protection, and the cord management feature, if you use the standard iPod buds, is rather helpful. However, without any screen protection, minor-to-major issues with the wheel, and minor issues with the cord manager, this model may not be a wise choice.

This model also offers, on the back of the case, earbud and cord management. Basically, there are two spots to place your earbuds, spacing on all sides to allow the cords to be wrapped around, and another spot to insert the other end of the cord.

In practice, this works very well. However, there's no quick way to easily release the cord once it's been wound. On the other hand, this does mean your cords will stay where you've put them. The earbuds, however, are another story. While they'll stay in well the first couple of times, after a while they start to pop out, especially when you pull them out of an inner coat pocket. However, because of the cord management, this isn't that big of an issue.

One thing that may not be readily apparent is that this model doesn't offer any screen protection. While I opened the packaging expecting it, I was sorely mistaken. Depending upon your usage of this case, that may be a major problem. However, the iPod Classic is supposed to have a stronger screen ... In my own usage, which includes sitting on a desk most of the time, to an inside coat pocket for travel, I've noticed some level of spotting, but no scratching.

Finally, we have the question of whether the case impacts normal usage. Sadly, I've noticed that this case does impact normal usage, sometimes in a very significant way.

The top, for plugging in your phones and placing on hold, and the bottom, for charging and connectivity, are left available and free. The front and back are otherwise completely covered, which means no finger prints. However, the wheel is also covered, which is sadly where functionality is impacted.

Although I've only slide the case onto the iPod once, the front just isn't tight enough, which means that when attempting to use the wheel, either to move through menus, or changing the volume, the plastic ends up negating my fingers motion. Unfortunately, this has happened enough that I was strongly tempted to rip off the case and just go without.

Overall, I'm fairly happy with the DLO Jam Jacket. The fact that there is no covering over the screen, and that the wheel functionality sometimes suffers are in fact fairly major issues. However, the earbud management feature is quite nice, and combined with the improved strength of the iPod Classic screen, this case isn't a total wash.

I give this product 3 of 5 stars, since while the purchase wasn't a total wash, I can't honestly recommend this case above all others, and might indeed be happier with another one.

I bought this case right before circuit city called it quit and i've loved it. it has a sleek look to it - it operates like a mirror when your ipod is not in use and your screen just comes right on when the ipod is playing. It is definitely durable. without it my ipod would've suffered some fatal injuries. Now to the stuff that overtime i found it irksome on this product: when you are in the sun, or whenever you take your ipod outside, your will barely see the screen due to reflection and all that. And if you are a video junkie who uses the ipod to watch everything, you won't appreciate the tinted pixels again as the result of the cover case. You can take the case off, but it's not all that easy. However, if you are one of those ppl who is actually looking for a PROTECTIVE casing for your ipod (and not one of those flimsy, too conservative kind of casing) this is one for you. My verdict is get it for the look and the durability and its actual purpose. oh ya you don't have to take off the case to connect your ipod. That's always a plus.

Fantastic iPod Case
In my opinion this is the perfect iPod case. I took my iPod out of the box and put it straight into this case, and the iPod still looks brand new underneath. I dropped it pretty hard on pavement and expected it to snap apart, but it stayed together and didn't have a scratch on it.

The entire case is sleek and adds almost no bulk. The back is rubberized just enough to keep the iPod sticking to surfaces, but not enough to pick up little bits of dust like other cases. The mirrored front looks really nice; my blue one gets complimented frequently. The front does show some scratches after a while, but it keeps the iPod underneath in perfect condition, which is what is really important.

Overall, this case is extremely well engineered and well worth the money! Makes a great gift for someone who loves their iPod.

There's a reason it's on fire sale.
This was apparently an item that didn't work out for Griffin, given the deeply discounted, practically giveaway prices of recent chrome cases for various iPods. (I've received 2 freebies off of credit card points.) Perhaps it's better than no protection, and it does provide a few brief moments of amusement. At first, all you see is chrome (after a few days, scratched chrome) until the iPod is activated. Voila! The lighted iPod magically shines through the chrome.

But after the momentary diversion, the sense of metal enclosed in metal (actually, hard plastic) brings with it considerable dissatisfaction. Moreover, using the iPod while it's encased in this thing has a "distancing" effect on the owner, who no longer has quite the same convenience and responsiveness of a non-encased iPod.

Verdict: spend a little extra for the Belkin leather folio case (the one that opens like a book rather than the one that flips upward). Both you and your iPod will feel the better for it, and you'll find it's much easier to remove the iPod from the case (this Griffin device practically requires a thin nail file to wedge it apart once you've snapped the two halves together, which is simply inviting additional scratches). After a week, I simply tossed both of my chrome cases (but not before prying them open to save the iPods).

Great product, but buy elsewhere
First off, I didn't get the cover for the iPod Classic. It was the same model as the one for the 5.5G iPod. This will fit a Classic, but the actual Classic model fits better and provides better coverage with a more detailed cutout shape. Second, Invisible Shield will NOT honor the warranty if it is purchased from Amazon or any seller on Amazon, as they're not an authorized reseller. So, if you have any issues, you're SOL like I was.

That being said, these things are amazing. A bit difficult to apply properly, but once it's on, your iPod is completely safe from scratching. The video on their website is no BS: you really can scratch at it with your keys, and it won't touch the iPod. I can't emphasize how effective these are. I carry my iPod around in a pocket with a set of keys and an uncapped USB flash drive, and while this would ruin an iPod normally, mine doesn't have a scratch. I got one for my phone, too (they make them for everything from phones and iPods, to laptops, to wiimotes). It makes it easy to clean fingerprints off a screen, too, as you don't have to worry about scratching the screen.

In conclusion, highly recommended, jut make sure you buy from one of their authorized resellers if you want warranty service.

Review of Invisible Shield for my iPod Classic
As a "non techy kind of person", the package contents were a little intimidating when I opened it, but applying the invisible shield actually was very, very easy. I was worried about air bubbles underneath the shield - but I used the straight edge that was provided and everthing came out perfectly. I'm very pleased with the product, each little nook and cranny fits my 80/120 GB iPod classic perfectly and it still fits into my charger with no problem.
